REC Solar Panels, Installed by SolarTech
REC Alpha panels use heterojunction (HJT) cells in a gapless layout to fit more power on your roof, and they hold their output on hot summer days. SolarTech is an REC Certified Solar Professional, and our in-house crews install REC panels across California and Arizona.
Inside an REC Alpha Panel
More Power From Every Square Foot
Standard panels leave small gaps between their cells, and that space makes no power. REC closes the gaps, so more of each panel collects sunlight. Pair that with heterojunction cells and you get up to 470 watts from a single all-black panel, which helps when roof space is tight.
REC recognized SolarTech as an Alpha Pure-RX First Mover, one of the certified installers that brought the panel to homeowners early.
- Up to 470 WPower per panel
- Up to 22.6%Panel efficiency
- 92%Warranted power in year 25
- 0.25%Maximum power loss per year
Top figures are for the REC Alpha Pure-RX. Your proposal lists the exact panel and datasheet for your home.
Our REC Panels
Two REC Alpha Models to Choose From
We install two panels from REC’s Alpha series. Both use gapless HJT cells and the same 25-year performance warranty. We’ll recommend the one that fits your roof and goals.
REC Alpha Pure-RX
Maximum power per panel for homeowners who want the most output from their roof.
- 450 to 470 W per panel, up to 22.6% efficiency
- 226 watts per square meter, our highest-output REC option
- Tested by a third party with 45 mm hailstones
- Full-black design with uniformly black cells
REC Alpha Pure-R
A lead-free panel for homeowners who care about what goes into their system.
- 400 to 430 W per panel, up to 22.3% efficiency
- Lead-free and RoHS compliant, with lead removed from all panel parts
- Gapless HJT cells, 223 watts per square meter
- A smaller panel for roofs with tight or broken-up space
Performance
What REC Panels Do on Your Roof
A panel’s wattage on day one is only part of the story. What matters is how much power it makes through hot summers, storms, and 25 years of weather.
Keeps producing in the heat
Every panel loses some power as it heats up. HJT cells lose less, which matters on long summer afternoons in inland California and Arizona.
Gapless cell layout
With no gaps between cells, REC Alpha panels fit up to 226 watts per square meter, so you need fewer panels for the same output.
Built for hail and heavy loads
REC reports the Alpha Pure-RX passed third-party testing with 45 mm hailstones. Both models are rated for heavy snow and wind loads with the right mounting.
Slow aging over time
REC warrants no more than 0.25% power loss per year after year one, so your panels still make at least 92% of their rated power in year 25.
Compare
REC Alpha vs. Standard Solar Panels
How REC’s heterojunction panels compare with typical panels on the market.
| Feature | REC Alpha | Standard panel |
|---|---|---|
| Cell technology | Heterojunction (HJT) cells in a gapless layout | PERC or TOPCon cells with gaps between them |
| Power in hot weather | Loses less output as the panel heats up | Loses more output on hot days |
| Power loss per year | 0.25% maximum after year one | Typically 0.4% to 0.7% |
| Power warranted in year 25 | 92% | About 81% to 89% |
| Lead in the panel | None in the Alpha Pure-R (RoHS compliant) | Most use lead-based solder |
| Hail testing | Alpha Pure-RX tested with 45 mm hailstones | Certified with 25 mm hailstones |
Standard panel figures reflect typical manufacturer warranties and the baseline hail test in the IEC 61215 standard. Always compare the datasheets for the exact panels in your quote.

Frequently Asked REC Questions
REC Alpha panels use heterojunction (HJT) cells, which combine two types of silicon to turn more sunlight into power and lose less output in the heat. REC also packs the cells together with no gaps, so the Alpha Pure-RX makes up to 470 watts from one all-black panel.
Both use gapless HJT cells and carry the same performance warranty. The Pure-RX is the higher-output panel at 450 to 470 watts and has been tested with 45 mm hailstones. The Pure-R is a smaller 400 to 430 watt panel that is lead-free and RoHS compliant. We’ll recommend the one that fits your roof.
REC panels carry a 20-year product warranty and a 25-year performance warranty that guarantees at least 92% of rated power in year 25. SolarTech adds a 25-year installation warranty that covers our workmanship.
HJT cells lose less power as they heat up than most standard cells, which helps on hot afternoons in inland California and Arizona. For storms, REC reports the Alpha Pure-RX passed third-party testing with 45 mm hailstones, well above the 25 mm baseline in the industry standard.
