Hyundai Solar Panels, Installed by SolarTech
Sleek on the roof, tough underneath. The all-black HD Hyundai HiN-T440NF(BK) seals 440 W of N-type cells between two sheets of solar glass, built for hot summers and decades of sun. It’s one of the most popular panels we install across California and Arizona, with up to 30 years of Hyundai warranty coverage.
Inside the HiN-T440NF(BK)
N-Type Cells Sealed in Glass on Both Sides
The HiN-T440NF(BK) is the 440 W model of HD Hyundai's all-black NF(BK) series, and one of the most popular panels SolarTech installs. Its N-type TOPCon cells lose less power in the heat and age more slowly than older P-type cells, and they're sealed between two sheets of solar glass instead of glass and a plastic backsheet.
HD Hyundai Energy Solutions is the solar company of the HD Hyundai industrial group, separate from Hyundai Motor.

Figures are from HD Hyundai's datasheet and standard warranty for the HiN-T440NF(BK). Your proposal lists the panel count and system size for your home.
Performance
What Hyundai Panels Do on Your Roof
California and Arizona roofs get hot, dusty and, near the coast, salty. A good panel holds its output through all of it, for decades.
Less power lost to heat
NF(BK) panels lose about 0.30% of their output per degree Celsius, so they hold up better on hot summer afternoons.
Glass on both sides
2 mm solar glass on the front and back, instead of a plastic backsheet, protects the cells from moisture and wear.
Tested for coast and desert
Certified to salt mist, ammonia, and sand and dust tests, conditions found from the San Diego coast to the Arizona desert.
Slower aging over time
Hyundai warrants no more than 1% power loss in year one and 0.4% per year after that, for 30 years.
Compare
Hyundai 440 W vs. Older P-Type Panels
How Hyundai's N-type HiN-T440NF(BK) compares with the P-type PERC panels many homes were sold over the past decade.
| Feature | Hyundai 440 W | Older P-type panel |
|---|---|---|
| Cell type | N-type TOPCon | P-type PERC |
| Construction | Solar glass front and back | Glass front, plastic backsheet |
| Power loss in heat | −0.30% per °C | About −0.34% to −0.37% per °C |
| Power loss in year 1 | 1% or less | Typically up to 2% |
| Power loss per year after | 0.4% or less | Typically up to 0.55% |
| Performance warranty | 30 years, at least 87.4% at year 30 | Typically 25 years, about 84% to 85% at year 25 |
Hyundai figures are from the HiN-T440NF(BK) datasheet and HD Hyundai's standard warranty. P-type figures reflect typical PERC panel datasheets and 25-year warranties. Always compare the datasheets for the exact panels in your quote.
Panel Construction
What’s Inside a Hyundai NF(BK) Panel
Five layers, from the glass that faces the sun to the junction box on the back.
-
1
Front glass
2.0 mm semi-tempered solar glass with an anti-reflective coating, so more sunlight reaches the cells.
-
2
N-type TOPCon cells
108 half-cut cells with 16 thin busbars. All black, so the panel has no silver lines on the roof.
-
3
Rear glass
A second 2.0 mm sheet of solar glass in place of a plastic backsheet, sealing the cells in from both sides.
-
4
Aluminum frame
An anodized aluminum frame that holds it all together, rated for 5,400 Pa of load on the front and back.
-
5
Junction box
Sealed to IP68 against dust and water, with 3 bypass diodes that limit power loss when part of the panel is shaded.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hyundai Solar
No. The panels are made by HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, the solar company of the HD Hyundai industrial group, which grew out of Hyundai Heavy Industries. Hyundai Motor is a separate company. HD Hyundai has made solar cells and panels since 2007.
We install the HiN-T440NF(BK), the 440 W all-black model from HD Hyundai’s NF(BK) series. It’s one of the most popular panels we offer, and it’s available everywhere we install in California and Arizona.
The HiN-T440NF(BK) has a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty: no more than 1% power loss in year 1, no more than 0.4% per year after that, and at least 87.4% of rated power in year 30. SolarTech adds its own 25-year installation warranty on our workmanship.
Well. NF(BK) panels lose about 0.30% of their output for every degree Celsius the panel heats up, which is less than typical older panels. That matters on hot roofs in Southern California and Arizona, where summer afternoons are when you use the most power.
The NF(BK) series uses bifacial cells, which can collect light on the back of the panel. On a typical roof the back of the panel sees very little light, so don’t count on extra output from it. The real benefit on a roof is the glass back, which is more durable than a plastic backsheet.
It depends on your roof and goals. Maxeon has the longest warranty at 40 years, REC packs a lot of power into each panel, and Qcells is an all-black N-type panel built in Georgia. Hyundai, one of our most popular panels, pairs N-type cells with a glass-on-glass build and a 30-year performance warranty. We’ll compare options in your proposal.
